Symphony tuttis and walking choruses both sit at the bottom of the band, often an octave under the cello. Double bass sheet music writes the pitches you hear there. The staff does not label whether the note was plucked or bowed.
A plucked chorus and a sustained orchestral bass can share one recording. You get the notes either way, and you add pizzicato or arco yourself.

In a tutti the bass often shadows the cello line from below. Follow that lower part when it is the one that has to be on your stand.

Walking lines, long pedals, and a solo that climbs are all fair game when the bass is distinct in the mix.

Pluck or bow, the transcription is pitches and rhythm. It will not pretend to know the bow. Mark the stroke when you edit.
Double bass comes preselected, so a louder cello line does not automatically take the page.

From the browser, up to 10 minutes: a symphonic tutti, a big-band chart, or a trio where the bass states the time.
02
Leave the bass by itself, add the cello, or switch to Auto when the rest of the rhythm section should be written too.

Low parts are easy to spell in the wrong register. Playback is the comparison. MusicXML or MIDI comes after you agree with your ear. The written octave is not promised.
“The cellos were loud and I still had to find our octave. Double bass sheet music from the broadcast was the start of the part.”
“I could walk the chorus and still miss the turnaround. The staff gave me the pitches. I wrote pizz. in pencil.”
“Pit calls move fast. Exporting the low line to MIDI meant it was in the book the same afternoon.”
A cello solo that sings higher has its own page. A blended string tutti is the section, not this one player.
